Are AI Movies Going to Replace Hollyweird

AI Sci-Fi Movie - Pomegranate - The start of something great, or not? I have to admit, I watched the entire short and was intrigued by the story. The imagery was obvious fantastical as there aren't CGI limitations, actor limitations, sound, voice, limitations - ultimately, the storyteller is no longer constrained. But, and this one for me is a big "BUT", I am not sure that this is a good thing. Again, the story was interesting, but with AI the ability to create whatever character you want and put them in whatever situation you want - this could take a really dark turn (if it hasn't already). As I was watching it, I didn't connect with the story like I would the traditional way with real actors. Is this a limitation of the creator, more than likely not. Instead, I think that it's more the fact that I couldn't connect with any of the characters, they felt soulless, maybe too perfect in their delivery, too perfect in their speech, too perfect in how they looked.

I am not suggesting that it wasn't good. I just couldn't connect. Maybe this is a generational thing (I still like reading books physical books), or maybe, just maybe, digital is still a very "0's and 1's" format that we will all recognize as being synthetic.

I do believe the platform has legs, that at some point in time as the technology gets better at understanding the fragility of humans alongside our strength and fearlessness, it may become less and less discernible than humans, but as of right now I am not convinced. Don't get me wrong, I think the majority of slop that comes of our Hollyweird is the industry dialing it in and not giving the audience credit, and because of this has made way for alternative mediums. If anything I blame the "door opening" for AI content on Hollyweird - if they had just continued to make solid, deep content, there would be no room for competition. Who knows where this takes us, but I am all for seeing where this goes.
